The songs depend entirely on the producers and they can sing any genre as long as the producer is capable of doing so. I prefer VOCALOID because I personally think it's a lot more impressive to think of how producers can stretch VOCALOID to any genre and sometimes make them sound human, but again, I base VOCALOID off producers, not off the voices themselves.
_ I wish more people would do that instead of the Miku noobs or Rin lovers (although, if you prefer a VOCALOID specifically even if the producers change other loids for you I'm fine with that as long as you base it off voice and not design)

I'm a lover of both Japanese music and Korean music. Even when I only liked Japanese music, I wouldn't want to listen to Vocaloids even if my life depended on it. My favorite artist ever, Gackt, even provided vocals for the Vocaloid Gakupo. I don't hate it, music is anything that has a sound, but comparing it to Korean pop music is as stupid as comparing a Tamagotchi to a real pet. Tamagotchis and Vocaloids are technically what they're intended to be, and they come without the baggage of something real. But they're empty, souless, an imitation. I don't think K-pop is perfect, a majority of it is focused on making money and idols can be treated like puppets, but its not ALL like that, and idols have to go through hell and back just to get into a group, they work all year round to exhaustion, and they care deeply for their fans. Some idols become artists and write their own music, sing their own emotions. Vocaloids cannot portray emotions because they're not real. You can prefer fake music if that's what your ears want, but K-pop will always be better.

Though, for @iveoras, I just want to say that's not true. Humans created vocaloid, and they work hard to create her songs. Just because it doesn't use a human voice does not mean there's no effort behind her. That's like saying there is no behind instrumental songs. You can't just pick up a violin and play beautifully. The same goes for using a vocaloid synthesizer.
I respect that you may enjoy human voices better or think that human voices are better though.

I won't be so smug. I myself never operated a vocaloid but I have seen and heard that it can be tricky to get everything to work smoothly. If used carelessly the vocaloid can sound kinda robotic. If you're a skilled user you can make the vocaloid sound just like a human is singing it and there are a lot of songs out there that so sound very human like. Want proof? Look up Hirari VY2 cover by Momocashew on youtube. That song very realistic and very emotional.
Also there are animations that go along for some songs, so it does take time to create those. It might not be as intricate and labor intensive as K-pop but don't discourage the skill it takes to make a good song.

But K-Pop, good ol' fashioned K-Pop, is real music. It is basically the same as American Pop, in that they sing, they dance, they dress up, and sometimes they autotune. (And yes, we do, and I'm not ashamed to admit it; after all, autotuning is practically PART of the music style in K-Pop.) The only difference is that while American is the globally recognized language, Korea is a tiny little peninsula in Asia. Yet somehow, people from this tiny little peninsula have managed to reach out with their music that seems very average and typical and connect people all over the globe.
While Vocaloids have accomplished the same thing, it is a wonder that K-Pop can do this without resorting to new type of technology.
I also believe that people can relate to K-Pop better, as I doubt the average civilian has been, oh, eaten by a crazy cannibal or butchered by a doll on Halloween.
One more thing. This is more of an opinion than anything, but the sound of synthesizers, especially the snappy, ringy sound of vocaloid isn't too pleasing to listen to. I admit that Vocaloid Music Videos are rather entertaining to watch and listen to, but when looking for something to listen to on my iPod, I prefer the rich, human sound of real voices and real instruments, rather the trademark springy sound of Vocaloid.

VOCALOID is a software that can sing songs that anyone composes, which means you can change the phonics to Korean sounds. Luka and SeeU have the ability to do this, Luka's English and Japanese can sing K-POP and SeeU is a Korean singer. But Korean singers can only sing in 2-5 language, VOCALOID can sing in ALL languages.

Second, I am so damn sick of seeing all these vocaloid fans going around bashing kpop.
In my opinion, kpop is WAY better than vocaloid (and no, I'm not a Miku hater or something like that). The reason why kpop is better is because kpop is HUMAN. They're human beings that worked really hard to achieve their goals, they have trained for years. Kpop songs are meaningful and catchy.
While on the other hand, Miku is a singing synthesizer and her voice may be sampled from Saki Fujita, but still, I wouldn't like to see a projection performing at the the Olympics. It would be childish and disrespectul (again, in my opinion).
And for the 'Miku is the voice of the future' part...oh, really? So in the future we are going to replace actual singers with computers and holograms?

I absolutely ADORED Vocaloid, to the point where I even read and wrote fanfiction for them.
Then I got into K-Pop and I am even more obsessed.
K-Pop is great because they put so much love and passion into their work. They have to train fr 5 or 6 years BEFORE they actually get to go on stage. This just shows how dedicated and perserverant they are to make their dreams come true. Once the groups debut, they never stop working hard for their fans.
K-Pop is worldwide. Take Super Junior for example. I OBSESS over Super Junior every moment of every day. Their songs managed to take #1 spots in South America, despite never having a concert there. Also in America. They've won various awards for their music, but they've never debuted there. Even though they're music is not in English, which is my first language, I still adore them because of their dedication to their fans and their work.

Vocaloid is made by yamaha, crypton only made the popular vocaloid: miku, rin, len, luka, meiko and kaito. u never heard of engloid songs?they are not robots, they r synthesizes
We know VOCALOID isn't real, but the people who make the songs ARE. I choose VOCALOID because it has a wide range of producers and genres, and not just condensed to pop and dancing. I'm not saying I hate K-Pop, I just don't want to listen to the same genre all the time. Plus, even if you don't like the software, there are tons of covers of VOCALOID songs all over Nico Nico and YouTube. You don't have to like the software, but at least appreciate the producers like I do. Especially Kaoling, whoo, niki, etc. I don't care about which VOCALOID is popular, I care about how they're used in a song and which producer made it.
Don't hate on VOCALOID just because producers prefer to use the software rather than sing. I use UTAU because I don't feel confident in singing. So someone, tell me one good reason why my statement's wrong. (And give me evidence. If you send me a song, I'll send you a better one.)
Oh, listen to me rave on about something I enjoy. If indeed Miku and the gang came to open up the Olympics, it would be a year to never forget for the fans of Vocaloids and Music creators. For the trend has grown large. And now it's here to stay.

Besides, I think the Americans are focusing more on Hatsune Miku than the rest of the Vocaloids - but ironically, when Rin/Len and Luka appeared on stage, the reaction was more effective than Miku's - although this might just be my imagination. :)
After all, Rin/Len are my favourite Vocaloids. And, for the record, they're not twins, they're mirror images. Why can't Americans understand the concept of mirror images? I don't know, I'm English. I think they should show us Miku's complete English voicebank, and maybe they could give us a hint about CV04? I hope so.
Also, with Miku being a symbol of world unity and all, I think it'd be appropriate, despite the fact she's not English. Oh well. If Miku does not perform, we will come for you. ;)
I'm also with you on the LenxRin thing. I don't understand why people don't understand the fact that they could be portrayed as twins, lovers or friends based on what song they are singing. Although I think I saw somewhere that it was released that they were lovers and married due to the whole "incest" epidemic.
Although, I myself am saving up for Yuzuki Yukari because my songs would suit her voice better than Lily, so I guess that's more of a thing.

To me vocaloids tripper a more emotional side of me and inspire me greatly. Vocaloids are an amazing creation that the first song I heard I became a fan. Not only that but vocaloids are multi-cultural. There are the English, Japanese, Spanish, Korean and Chinese vocaloids. What is even more amazing is that SeeU , the Korean vocaloid, is pretty much trilingual. I love every vocaloid, I really do. Each and everyone of the vocaloids is unique and special and are amazing in their own way. Sure sometimes they can sound a bit robotic but the fact that they are what they are is something really spectacular. Lastly I do think vocaloids are real because they live in the heart and soul of every fan. I have to admit this fandom is a little crazy but what fandom isn't :)?

Honestly, K-pop is way over heard everywhere. So Is Vocaloids's project diva, Hatsune Miku and all the other vocaloids. People keep overlooking the fact that vocaloid are real singers to the fact that some use cartoon/anime characters. I beleive that music that uses vocaloids instead of a person acually singing on stage is more attractive. A voice synthisizer singing your favorite song. Thats something that you don't often see everyday. And there not computers. There singers that can be used to compose vocals for your own music. They are NOT fully computer generated.

It would also be nice to hear them everywere around the globe on big events so people step out of their naive and old fashioned way of thinking that virtual things are bad and shouldn't be used/done/shown.

Here's my dilemma: Miku wouldn't be a good choice because she's not real, not human. A lot of effort goes into her songs. There are humans behind her creation.
Instruments aren't human, but humans use them to make beautiful music. I love a lot of instrumental music, but I wouldn't say instrumental music is better than vocally sung music. The two are both art. I may prefer one over the other sometimes, but I don't think either are better.
It's like with drawing... there's traditional media and digital media. Digital media could potentially be more perfect because you have the ability to undo things, completely erase, make perfect copies of images, etc. with aid of a computer. Miku can sing near perfect pitches/notes or whatever it is the program is capable of. With traditional media, human error is more noticeable (smudges, eraser marks, excess paint/water, etc.). But that doesn't mean a drawing can't look stunning. A human voice also has flaws, but it can be great as well. Miku's voice would be like digital art in this case; she doesn't just sing with the click of a button. The construction of her music takes time. If you say there's nothing behind her songs, then you should be able to draw a professional digital picture of a lake and mountain for me in a few moments. Don't tell me there's no soul to digital art either. You need skill to create a beautiful digital artwork.
So, all in all, saying that Miku isn't human isn't a valid point to me. Saying that you are not interested her type of music is. Miku's songs are hardly "soulless".
Of course I'll vote for vocaloid !! Didn't you see them ? Hi-technology, beautiful voice, and song from the entire world !! This is how we creat our imagination !! And they sing it perfectly !! This is the best !!

They say that Vocaloids can't sing with soul, but actually, they can. The music producer that makes the song with (a) VOCALOID can and does put soul into it, thus making it unique.

Most people get into to vocaloid because of the fandom and the anime style; but then others get into because of the good music. Most for both.
They might not be real but REAL people make their songs; and unlike other bands; Vocaloid/ Utauloid songs talk about so many other things except Love and Break up (Im not saying their is not those but) Most of them tell story's. Look at the Servant of Evil for Example.
And so many other songs. And Do you know what K-pop fans; People Make Miku, Rin, Len ,Luka Sing your songs to; So don't start bitching about how crappy the songs are. K-POP is pretty nice, but most of K-POP songs are American now-a-days anyway .
VOCALOID songs have so much variety. Some are sad, some are happy/joyful, some are fast beat, some are slow, etc.
They also have a lot more care and work put into them, composers aren't made from the program to make a VOCALOID you know, it actually takes real life people to make the song. It also takes real life people to make a VOCALOID's outfit, lyrics, dance moves, setting, etc.
It isn't as "easy" as many people think.
Notice I don't just say Miku, that is because there are far more VOCALOID than Miku, there is the common #'s, Rin, Len, Luka, Kaito, GUMI, etc.

Firstly, every songs Vocaloid sing contain some meaning, and maybe a story behind. In addition, most K-pop songs that I heard only are love songs, usually bitter love. I always search for the sub when I heard Vocaloid songs (since I'm not Japanese), but I don't need when I heard K-pop songs as I know that they will be about love or how cool the singers are.
Secondly, I agree with K-pop fans that they can be unreal. However, I don't care if they are real or not. I'm sick of some people who always said something like "Have you hear his/her new song? He/she looks so cool/hot/handsome etc." Seriously, you guy listen to a song or just watch his/her body?
P/s: please don't call Vocaloid "computer" just because you are jealous that Vocaloid gets 81% vote. It is very difficult to make a Vocaloid song. And, do you mean your precious stars lose to a computer? That is very pitiful, I must say~
